Google, as usual, changed it logos for the occasion while Yahoo! uses an animated Flash that will turn both it’s “O” into recycle symbols when you mouse over it while a plant will grow besides the letter, “Y” when you mouse over the logo for the first time.
If you realize, besides Google and Yahoo, YouTube has also changed its logo purposely for Earth Day. Seems like more and more web sites are creating awareness for Earth Day this time around.

Yahoo! new social networking site that replaces Yahoo! 360 is finally being revealed as Yahoo! Mash. In order to compete with Facebook and MySpace, Yahoo has come out with Yahoo! Mash which is like a combination of Facebook, MySpace, and My Yahoo.
You can drag and drop the existing modules of Flickr RSS, Ego Boost, Common Friends, MyMashLog, Blog Module (RSS 2.0), Asteroids, Astrology, PimpMyPet, Hover, Kaleidoscope to the main column or the right column. Many more other modules are also coming up, some of them include YouTube video, World of Warcraft Armory (show off your WoW character! I love this one!), Amazon Wishlist, Current eBay Listing, Twitter Status and more!

Yahoo! Mash
Unlike Facebook and MySpace, Yahoo! Mash enables you to edit your details in real-time without having to open up another page! Unlike Facebook, it actually lets you customize the background and use CSS to style your profile. And yes, you must have a Yahoo! account to join Yahoo! Mash, though currently it’s only by invitation. However it is, we all know Yahoo! Mash is heading towards the right way, and hopefully, not like its predecessor, Yahoo! 360.
The coolest thing? You can create a profile for your friend, edit the profile for him or her too! Of course, there is a privacy control - you can set who can edit your profile, who can view your profile and post your guestbook by setting “Only You”, “Some of My Friends”, “Best Friends”, “Family”, “All Friends” and “Anyone”.
Currently, it is only by invitation. To get invited, just post a comment on this post and I will send an invite to you.

Recently, Yahoo! launched a new service called Yahoo! Pipes. Pipes is a free online service that lets you remix popular feed types and create data mashups using a visual editor. You can use Pipes to run your own web projects, or publish and share your own web services without ever having to write a line of code.
In other words, Pipes is an interactive feed aggregator and manipulator. Using Pipes, you can create feeds that are more powerful, useful and relevant. Unlike most feed aggregator, Pipes offers output in RSS, RDF, JSON and Atom formats for maximum flexibility!
Recently, Pipes experienced some downtime due the unexpected heavy load of usage. However, Yahoo! are working on adding more capacity.

For the past couple of years, Google and Yahoo! has been all over the Internet, especially in the online advertising industry while Microsoft continues to focus on the software side, battling with PS2 (and soon PS3) with its own console game, Xbox and challenging the MP3 market controlled by iPod with its new Zune. But, meanwhile Google and Yahoo! continues to acquire companies like Flickr, YouTube, Blogspot among others to strengthen their online presence towards Web 2.0 standard. Where does Microsoft stand with its ailing search engine? Will Microsoft ‘Live’ be able to battle with the Internet giants?
Shoemoney shares an insight of 10 reasons why Microsoft will acquire Yahoo in year 2007.
