The World Is Walking 10% Faster

The pace at which city dwellers walk has increased by 10 per cent in the last decade, a new study has shown.

The findings, from 32 countries, reflect the fact that increasing numbers of people are living in the fast lane. Teams with stop watches timed how long it took 35 men and women to walk along a 60ft stretch of pavement.

Surprisingly, on the top of the list is Singapore! Followed by Copenhagen (Denmark), Madrid (Spain) and Guangzhou (China).

Live Earth: Worldwide Global Warming Concerts

The former U.S. Vice President, Al Gore, and a group of environmental activists announced a star-studded series of international concerts, aiming at raising awareness about the threat of climate changes.

The worldwide string of various concerts, dubbed Live Earth, which will take place across seven continents, is scheduled for this summer, on July 7, 2007 (07.07.07), and will include performances by 150 of the world’s top recording artists introduced by an army of “celebrities and thought leaders.” Some of those artists that already signed up for the concert include Sheryl Crow, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Snow Patrol, Foo Fighters, Duran Duran, Enrique Iglesias, Lenny Kravitz and rapper Snoop Dogg.
