Is Your Web Site Web 2.0 Compliant?

Web 2.0 has been the hype for quite awhile now. While most companies are already gearing towards web 3.0, where does your web site stands? Or you haven’t even heard of the term web 2.0 at all?

I have done several web2.0 validations and found yowazzup.com is definitely web 2.0 compliant. You can validate whether your web site is web 2.0 compliant using www.certifyr.com or
a more comprehensive web2.0validator.com.

Does web 2.0 always means rounded-corner, oversized text, reflection, gradients and so on? Read about Web 2.0 Design in a nutshell by Roman and watch the slide show of Designing for Web 2.0: The Visual Ecosystem by Luke Wroblewski, made for Web 2.0 Expo in April 2007 to understand more on web 2.0.

According to Luke’s slides, web 2.0 has shifted Locomotion to Services, Pages to Rich Interactions, Sites to Content Experiences and Webmasters to Everyone. So, what are the example web sites that is web 2.0? Check out this web 2.0 directory and you’ll find thousand of web sites that are web 2.0 compliant.

So, after reading the explanation from the links I have enclosed, you must have at least slight understanding of what web 2.0 is (if you don’t, then I suggest you to get punched in the gut by someone in Facebook. Oh, wait, you don’t even have a Facebook account, dang!). Even Dilbert has a comic strip on web 2.0. To remain competitive, just make sure your web site is web 2.0 compliant, because it’s not only very obsolete if your web site is still web 1.0, but you may lose tonnes of potential business to a competitor with a web 2.0 web site.

Our Lives and Web 2.0 Evolution

Today, I almost bump into my colleague as both of us walked towards a square corner and *snap*, it made me think into applying Web 2.0 into our daily lives.

Before Wall 2.0
Before Wall 2.0, I almost bump into my colleague as both of us could not see who’s coming. Not only that, people tends to get shocked or surprised when someone suddenly appear.

After Wall 2.0
After Wall 2.0, we can see each better as the wall is rounded and we have got reflection (maybe through proper lights at the right place). LoL!

If only we have designed the office building using web 2.0 standards, we would have avoid bumping into each other. Think about it. The same situation can be apply to the roads and cars.

As most of us never realize, our constantly-changing world has already adopted 2.0 standard for a long time.

The most amazing thing would be human evolution where our ancestors used to have face that are more square. But, let’s not talk about that. Web 2.0 evolution is eating into us. Cars are now metallic, rounded, have gradients and because of the metallic-made, reflection is more obvious. So are the modern cellphones. So are other things in our daily lives. What could be more obvious?
