Burning Man is an eight-day-long annual festival that takes place in Black Rock City, Nevada. The event is described by organizers as an experiment in community, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance and takes its name from the ritual of burning a large wooden sculpture of a man on the sixth day.
This year, the event was held from 27th August to 3rd September. The theme for 2007 is “The Green Man”, which anticipated the most participants ever, at 47,097.

The United States Mint has been working around the clock to turn out the first of its new series of Presidential Dollar coins for their debut today. The Mint introduced its new $1 George Washington gold coin yesterday, a day before being released to the public.
While the presidential coins are expected to be popular with collectors, the last dollar coin to be introduced, featuring Sacagawea, was not a success.
The new coin, which weighs 8 grams, will be much lighter in people’s pockets than four quarters would, said Edmund Moy, director of the Mint. The banks already have been given 300 million of the new coins and will start distributing them today.
Recently, Apple released its long awaited iPhone in the United States and everyone’s talking about it, digging stories about it and probably, many are fantasizing about having one (I have to admit I’ve been drooling at the photos of Apple iPhone as well). I mean, what’s the fuss with Apple iPhone? First of all, it’s not a 3G phone, which means no video calls nor high-speed Internet access or live sport game on your phone. Secondly, by all means, it doesn’t have the best digital camera a phone can have (think Carl-Zeiss Cybershot). The Japanese has got 3G phones that are far more superior than Apple iPhone years before Apple iPhone was released. Most Japanese are probably laughing and say “Apple iPhone? You gotta be kidding!” While most people in the world are gearing towards 3G, the Japanese are moving towards 4G! Companies like NTT DoCoMo are already conducting test on 4G.
What’s the difference between 3G and 4G? 3G’s data rates which are currently 384kbps (downlink) while 4G standard has 100Mbps (uplink) and 20Mbps (downlink)! What about the Apple iPhone? What? LoL!
Merry Christmas! How would you like to get sued this Christmas?
The RIAA is suing the website AllofMP3.com on behalf of EMI, Sony BMG, Universal Music, and Warner Music in the amount of $150,000 for each of the 11 million songs that were downloaded from June to October of 2006. That comes to a lawsuit totaling $1.65 trillion!
Considering Russia’s GDP is $1.408 trillion, I guess RIAA wants to eat up Russia, LoL!
After days of massive search, finally James Kim, the editor of CNET was found dead.
An Oregon law enforcement official got choked up today when he announced the dreaded news: James Kim — who had left rescuers a trail of clues after setting out into the rugged, icy Oregon mountains to find help for his stranded family — was found dead.
At 12:03 p.m. the body of the San Francisco man was found in the steep narrow canyon where searchers had followed his trail, said teary-eyed Josephine County Undersheriff Brian Anderson, surrounded by dozens of reporters. He could not continue talking. That’s when Lt. Gregg Hastings stepped in.
Paris Hilton is hiring herself out for New Years parties.
The socialite-turned-actress will host a bash in either Miami, New York or Los Angeles in your honor for $100,000 plus expenses and a private jet.
An insider told BANG Showbiz: “Who wouldn’t want Paris to throw a party for them? She’s got a reputation for throwing some of the most lavish events going - when she’s not crashing them that is.
“However, people might balk at the price, and you have the wonder why she doesn’t have better things to do on New Years Eve than throw a party for a stranger?”
Carmen Electra is also offering to put on a bash in one of the three same American cities. However, the former ‘Baywatch’ star is charging just $50,000 to stage the event and isn’t demanding a private jet.
Meanwhile, Paris’ MySpace ‘friends’ are being spammed by a hacker. Members of her online network have been bombarded with emails claiming to be from the socialite-turned actress telling them they have won an all expenses paid trip to meet her.
However, when they click on the links they are faced with nothing but a string of pop-up advertisements and asked for their personal information before their computer freezes.
One ‘friend’ fumed: “The survey takes forever to fill out. I sure hope Paris is treating her best-friend-again Nicole Richie better than her MySpace friends.
