According to independent studio Summit Entertainment, New Moon took in $66 million, adding to its two-week total to $230.7 million in North America alone. The movie has made $243 million globally for a worldwide total of just under $475 million in the frame of two weeks.

President of domestic distribution for Summit Entertainment, Richard Fay, said the movie continued to be strong due to repeat business from mostly teenage girls who are fans of the movies and books.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"

Kristen Stewart reprises her role as Bella Swan in New Moon and the film focuses mainly on Bella. On her 18th birthday, Bella dreams of being old-age while her lover, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) remains youthful since he is a vampire. Since then, Bella keeps telling Edward to turn her into a vampire so they can spend eternity together. The Cullens family throws Bella a birthday party but upon opening a present, Bella has a paper cut and this overwhelms Edward’s adoptive brother, Jasper, who tries to kill her but is stopped by Edward. Trying to protect Bella, Edward decides to break up with Bella and moves away from Forks.

Bella slowly turns her attention to her friend, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), as he comforts her and makes her forget about Edward temporarily. Soon, Bella realizes Jacob is a werewolf, the sworn enemy of the vampires, as Jacob protects Bella from danger.

Vision from Alice leads Edward to think that Bella has killed herself while cliff-diving. Depress over the death of Bella, Edward escapes to Italy to provoke the Volturi, a powerful coven of vampires to kill him. Alice and Bella manage to arrive in Italy just in time to stop him. However, the Volturi decides that Bella must either be killed or transformed into a vampire herself since she knows too much. Alice saves Bella by showing the Volturi a vision of the future in which Bella has been turned into a vampire.

The second movie of the Twilight Saga has more talking and soul-searching than actions. New Moon is more like a drama rather than an romance-action-fantasy-thriller. As part of the package, the director also tries to incorporate some lame jokes into the film, making it even more raunchy. Kristen Stewart shows that she lacks the real acting skills and at times, she seems to be more pale than the vampires. Not worth spending your money on.
