King Henry VIII (Eric Bana) could not get a male heir to his throne when his wife Catherine of Aragon (Ana Torrent) gives birth to another daughter. Thomas Howard, the Duke of Norfolk (David Morrissey) and his brother in law Sir Thomas Boleyn (Mark Rylance) has a secret scheme to instate the latter’s elder daughter Anne (Natalie Portman) in the court of Henry VIII as the king’s mistress and potential mother of his son.

During a hunting trip, Henry is injured and is nursed by Mary (Scarlett Johansson) and becomes infatuated with her. Henry sends Mary’s husband away on an assignment in order to get close to Mary, who finds herself falling in love with the king.

When Anne secretly marries nobleman Henry Percy without the King’s consent, she is exiled to France in disgrace.

The Boleyn family’s fortunes seem to be assured when Mary becomes pregnant. However, she is confined to bed for the remainder of her pregnancy when she almost suffers a miscarriage. In order to prevent Henry from wandering to another rival, especially Jane Seymour, the Duke of Norfolk recalls Anne to England to keep Henry’s attention. Anne successfully seduces Henry by revealing herself as a more sophisticated woman. She even manages to convince the king to never to bed his wife or speak to her sister. What’s more, Anne manages to persuade Henry to break from Roman Catholic Church when Pope Clement VII refuses to annul his marriage to Catherine. Thereafter, Henry declares himself the Supreme Governor of the Church of England and divorces his wife, Catherine. Mary assures Henry that Anne and Percy were never married due to her loyalty to her family. Anne weds Henry and becomes the Queen of England.

Despite Anne’s giving birth to a daughter, Elizabeth, Henry is unhappy with Anne’s failure to deliver a son. After she miscarries their second child, a desperate Anne asks her brother George to try to impregnate her. George’s wife witnesses the encounter which leads to the arrest, trial and execution of both George and Anne. Mary pleads for her sister’s life, but Henry refuses to change his mind. He even warns Mary never to come to court again, because her family’s disgrace could endanger her as well. Mary grants Anne’s last wish as she takes care of her infant daughter, Elizabeth who goes on and becomes Queen Elizabeth I.

Overall, the movie is well-adapted despite the complication of the history. Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson performed quite well as their characters of the Boleyn sisters. Still, movie of this caliber does not suit everybody’s taste as some parts of the movie may bore you to death. Maybe Eric Bana can call himself lucky despite the failure of The Hulk movie in 2003 — what’s better than playing the King of England and being surrounded by Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson, not forgetting his other mistresses.

My ratings: 7 out of 10.

The wedding was attended by only a handful of close friends and family at a remote wilderness retreat outside of Vancouver, B.C.

The couple had announced their engagement in May.

Reynolds was previously engaged to singer Alanis Morissette. Coincidentally, Morrissette’s latest album, Flavors of Entanglement contains a bonus song titled "The Guy Who Leaves" — wonder if it’s referring to Reynolds?

Scarlett Johansson, 23 and Ryan Reynolds, 31, the star of Definitely, Maybe and the popular sitcom, Two Guys and a Girl, are engaged. However, according to the rep, no wedding date has been set.

The Associated Press reports that the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, a student drama group at Harvard University, gives its awards to performers who have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment.” The group is the nation’s oldest undergraduate drama company.

Scarlett Johansson led a parade through Cambridge on February 15th, which led her to a roast in her honor, at which she received the “Pudding Pot,” the prize for Woman of the Year. The same thing happened for Ben Stiller on February 23th.

Scarlett Johansson is only 22 years old but has an amazing career already, marked by four Golden Globe nominations. She broke through in The Horse Whisperer only nine years ago and has since received acclaim in Ghost World, Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring, A Love Song for Bobby Long, In Good Company, Match Point, The Island, Scoop, The Black Dahlia, and The Prestige. She’s not slowing down and will next be seen in The Nanny Diaries with Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti this April. After that, she’ll star with Natalie Portman and Eric Bana this October in The Other Boleyn Girl.

Ben Stiller is 41 years old and has most recently been seen in School for Scoundrels, Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny, and the HUGE Night at the Museum. He got his start in small roles on shows as diverse as Kate & Allie and Miami Vice, but he didn’t break through until he got his own show, The Ben Stiller Show. He used that critically acclaimed but not very high-rated show to move into film and made his mark with Reality Bites, The Cable Guy, There’s Something About Mary, Meet the Parents, Zoolander, Along Came Polly, Dodgeball, and Madagascar. He’ll next be seen in the Farrelly Brothers’ The Heartbreak Kid with Michelle Monaghan and his dad Jerry Stiller, which is scheduled for release this October.

The 21-year-old actress poses in come-hither garb on the cover and inside pages of the magazine’s November issue, on newsstands Oct. 18.

On the cover, she wears a bra and a white Calvin Klein mini-dress; In a series of photos inside (showing her as an “enigmatic trailer-park temptress,” the magazine says), she wears cleavage-baring black lingerie paired with an open white robe, among other get-ups.

Johansson, whose screen credits include “The Black Dahlia,” “Lost in Translation” and “Match Point,” says she would rather be admired for attributes other than sex appeal.

“What about my brain? What about my heart? What about my kidneys and my gallbladder?” she asks, addressing all the hoopla about her curves in an interview in the magazine.

She is no stranger to the paparazzi’s cameras, and once flashed a sign proclaiming, “the person taking this picture is harrassing me.”

“Apparently I spelled `harass’ wrong,” she recalls. “It was horrible. I couldn’t remember whether it was one `r’ or two, and I asked like four people, and they said two.”

The Black Dahlia is actually a nickname for actress Elizabeth Short , who was a victim of a murder at age 22. The murder remains unsolved. It is the most notorious unsolved murder in California history.

In this movie, Scarlett Johansson stars as Kay Lake, the girlfriend of Lee and the woman who steals Bucky’s heart, and not as Elizabeth Short (thankfully), so we’ll get to see more of Scarlett Johansson.
