We have ringtones for cellphones, caller tones for callers, we also can personalize our computers’ every sound from startup sound to shutdown sound. What if we can personalized our vehicle’s horn as well? Well, now you can!

Introducing Horntones – the car horn that plays MP3s!

Imagine, instead of horning the usual and boring horn, you can do these at the right place and right time:

Dixie at the demolition derby

The Empire Strikes Back theme when you pull up to the IRS office

A Godzilla roar when stuck behind a Toyota

The Back to the Future theme as you accelerate to 88 miles per hour

Road-Runner “Meep-Meep!” right before you floor it

The beginning of “Gimme More” if your name happens to be Britney

So cool, ain’t it?

However, one must remember that it is illegal to use siren wails, bells, and whistle sounds. Those are reserved for emergency vehicles. And Horntones does not replace your normal horn, it operates alongside your existing horn.

Available at USD $299 from ThinkGeek.com

It’s even endorsed by a cosmetic dentist (the woman on the top left.) In addition to improving your smile, the product promises to reduce facial sagging, making your countenance more firm and petite.

By taking in air at the head end of the mattress, the dual fans at the foot pull it through a soft membrane that expands to become an air-cushion, bringing cool air in past your head and through the bed. Better still, the bed is so ecological, it saves energy and money!

“Once the gadget is created, you can invite other people to view & use the gadget, and make it publicly available for other people to view & use it.” So whatever you choose to add to a gadget will be visible to the people you invited.

The wizard helps you set up these gadgets:

Framed Photo – add up to 7 photos (by rotation)

Daily Me – add what you’re doing or what’s in your mind

Free Form – add image and text freely

YouTube Channel – add up to 10 videos from YouTube

Personal List – publish your own top ten, or to-do list

Other than the Gadget Maker, you can personalize your iGoogle with your favorite comic strips (i.e. Garfield, Dilbert), Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Calendars, News, Games, Dictionaries, Wikipedia and many hundreds more.

Self-cleaning fabrics could revolutionize the sport apparel industry. The technology, created by scientists working for the U.S. Air Force, has already been used to create t-shirts and underwear that can be worn hygenically for weeks without washing.

The new technology attaches nanoparticles to clothing fibers using microwaves. Then, chemicals that can repel water, oil and bacteria are directly bound to the nanoparticles. These two elements combine to create a protective coating on the fibers of the material.

Reportedly surprised by Apple’s recent iPod price cuts, Microsoft this week announced that its upcoming Zune MP3 player will be priced at $249.99, the same price as the iPod model it most closely resembles. Microsoft also said it now plans to ship Zune in the US on November 14.

“On November 14 we’re delivering not only a device, but a shared, social experience that will be shaped by the collective imagination of consumers,” said Chris Stephenson, general manager of global marketing for Zune. “We’re infusing the spirit of discovery and sharing into everything we do–from the experience we crafted around the device and service to pre-loading music and videos on every device to expose people to something new.”

Zune is an iPod-like device that features a 30 GB hard drive, a 3-inch color screen that works in both landscape and portrait modes, a built-in FM tuner, and unique sharing features. The first generation Zune will include a selection of preloaded content, including songs, music videos, and short movies. Versions will be available in three colors: White, black, and brown.

Microsoft will be bolstering the device with a new online service called Zune Marketplace, where Zune users can browse and purchase songs for about 99 cents each. Unlike Apple’s iTunes service, however, Zune Marketplace will also offer a $14.99 monthly subscription called Zune Pass that gives subscribers access to all Zune Marketplace content.

There will also be a wide array of accessories available for Zune at launch. These include prepackaged sets of accessories such as the Home A/V Pack (for integrating the device into a home theatre), the Zune Travel Pack, and the Zune Car Pack. But there are also numerous standalone accessories, including an AV Output Cable, AC Adapter, Sync Cable, Car Charger, Dock, Wireless Remote, Dual Connect Remote, FM Tuner with AutoSeek, Gear Bag, and Premium Headphones.

This should all sound pretty familiar to iPod users. The big differentiator, so to speak, is that Zune will include wireless capabilities that will allow Zune users to share music with each other. Microsoft has yet to describe this feature in much detail, but the company has said that Zune users will be able to actually transmit protected content to other users, at least for a temporary time period. “This is just the beginning,” Stephenson said.

One issue that Microsoft is being upfront about is that the company will lose money on the first generation Zune. Microsoft says the Zune is a “multiyear strategy,” like the Xbox, and that the company is in this business for the long haul. Starting next year, we’ll see a number of other portable devices using the Zune brand.
