Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2"

The film continues from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 where Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) acquires the Elder Wand.

With Voldemort in possess of the most powerful wand, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) determine to destroy all the Horcruxes in order to kill Voldemort. They also come to learn about the importance of the three Deathly Hallows — the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Cloak of Invisibility.

However, after destroying two of the Horcruxes, Harry comes to learn from Severus Snape’s memories that he is one of the Horcruxes as part of Voldemort was deflected into him when he was a baby. In order to prevent Voldemort from destroying Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and killing everyone, Harry confronts Voldemort and is killed in the process and goes to a place that resembles King Cross station except it is foggy. There, he meets Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) and learns about the truth.

Through the Resurrection Stone which was casted earlier and to the surprise of everyone Harry comes back to life and attacks Voldemort in order to distract Voldemort while Ron and Hermione take on the last Horcruxes, Voldemort’s snake. But, it was Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) who manages to kill Voldemort’s snake — killing Voldemort in the process.

Fast forward to the future, it is seen that Harry and Ginger, Ron and Hermione send their children to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry’s son is Albert Severus Potter — named after two of the schools’ greatest principals.

Overall, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 puts a credible ending to one decade of Harry Potter film series. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is perhaps one of the better films in the Harry Potter film series but despite split in two parts, the film seems to be accelerating towards the end. Perhaps, it is a wait finally over for both Potter fans and non fans, not forgetting for both witches and wizards and muggles. All in all, the final installment of the Harry Potter film series has finally grown up from the naive Harry Potter from the first film. A grand finale, indeed.

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the ultimatum of the Harry Potter film series. It is dark, magical and surprisingly satisfying. Watch it whether you’re a fan or not, otherwise ten years in the road, you won’t know what to answer when your kid ask you about the film.
