Earth Hour is created by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund) in 2007 and has now become a global annual event. Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses from 35 countries switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008, 50 million people switching off their lights on March 28. Now, Earth Hour 2009 will happen on the same date, March 28 and 80 countries and 1,500 cities are expected to participate.
