China’s cosplay scene is evolving with ChinaJoy, also known as China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference. ChinaJoy, at its 7th year was held in Shanghai recently. Like E3 in the United States or the Tokyo Game Show in Japan, ChinaJoy is a convention where people from all over the world gather and talk about digital entertainment and global game industry. Also, ChinaJoy held a cosplay carnival at the Shanghai International Expo Center.

Japanese actress, Kyoko Fukada has unveiled the costume she wears as bad girl Doronjo in "Yatterman", a movie based on the 1970’s Japanese anime television series.

Fukada, 26, widely known as "Fukakyon" has reportedly helped in the design of the sexy bondage-style outfit.

"Yatterman" will be released on March 7, 2009.

Comic Fiesta 2007, Malaysia’s biggest ACG event will be held December 15-16, 2007 from 11am – 7pm on 6th floor, Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur. Admission is MYR 10 for one day and MYR 20 for two days.

There will be a cosplay competition, artist booths, drawing contest, stage games, etc.

Sci Fi & Fantasy Festival 2006 was held in Cineleisure Damansara from December 15 – 17, 2006. It claimed to be the first-ever Sci-Fi and Fantasy event to be held in Malaysia. Some of the highlights include a cosplay competition and Eragon showcase featuring Eragon games and related merchandize. Other than that, there were Comics Zone, a place showcasing comics, manga and cartoons of local talents. There were also a cyber game arena with Eragon Official Game Launch and Demo, Warhammer: 40k: Dawn of War – Dark Crusade Tournament and Water Margin Online Game Showcase. I managed to catch a glimpse of the main highlight of the carnival, which include movie character appearance like Elektra, Jason from Hell, Freddie Nightmare, Stormtrooper, Predator and so on.

Tokyo Game Show 2006 was held from September 22-24, 2006. Tokyo Game Show has been an annual event for 11 years – showcases Japan’s finest in terms of interactive electronic entertainment. Unlike E3 shows that start out in the middle of the week, TGS always takes place over the length of a weekend, with Friday designated as the “Business Day”. The weekend was opened to the public. Many visitors came readily dressed in cosplay costumes. And many cosplayers were also taking photos of other cosplayers. This is heaven for gamers.
