2007 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational was held on May 19 & 20 at Olympic Gymnastics and Fencing Stadiums in Seoul, South Korea. The Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals are public events that allow the company to connect with gamers in a celebration of the Warcraft®, Diablo®, and StarCraft® game universes and competitive Blizzard Entertainment® gaming. The event was opened to gamers of all ages and feature a number of exciting e-sports tournaments, including the regional finals for both Warcraft III Battle.net® Season 5 and the first season of World of Warcraft®’s Arena Tournament. Invitational StarCraft and Warcraft III tournaments also pitted some of Korea’s finest players against tough international challengers.
Two major K-pop stars, Lee Hyori and Ivy drove the crowd to frenzy with their energetic performance. The main event was of course, the announcement of Starcraft II - after a hiatus of nearly a decade. “I’m awake, I’m awake!” Finally, it’s awaken! Oh, wait, that’s Warcraft.
