Beijing 2008 Olympic may be over already, but you still can catch the closing ceremony in DVD that’s 2 hours long.
The highlights include a performance by Three Tenors’ Placido Domingo, a “human memory tower”, and an 8 minute presentation by London 2012, including the appearance of David Beckham, Leona Lewis and Led Zeppelin’s lead guitarist, Jimmy Page. Also, you can catch the performance of Wei Wei, Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Karen Mok and Joey Yung as well.
China’s 10 Yuan used to have Mao Zedong’s face on it, not anymore. With the Olympic Games’s hype (and for decades after that), China have replaced Mao’s face with with its infamous Bird’s Nest Stadium on its 10 Yuan note.

Michael Phelps won his record eighth gold medal in the Men’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay final on Sunday with some help from his friends and thus, broke Mark Spitz’s record of seven golds in one Olympic Games.
The US team of Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen, Jason Lezak and Phelps won at the National Aquatics Center in a time of 3:29.34 and in doing so broke the world record by 1.34 seconds.
Congratulations to Phelps! Now, everyone, start swimming by getting the swim suits.
Jamaican Usain Bolt dashed to victory in the men’s 100-meter final with a world-record 9.69 seconds, 0.03 seconds off his own world record. He even had the audacity to pose and celebrate before crossing the line — he could possibly go much faster.
His compatriot, Asafa Powell finished in a disappointing fifth in 9.95 seconds. While Tyson Gay didn’t even qualify for the final.
The 6-foot-5-inch Bolt has a long way to go, especially with the way he finished the 100 final. And he’s only 21.
Michael Phelps won his seventh gold in the Men’s 100m Butterfly final at the National Aquatics Center on Saturday. His feat equal Mark Spitz (also from USA) as the only person ever to have won seven gold medals at a summer Olympic. Phelps already surpassed Mark Spitz in terms of number of World Records at an Olympic Games with five world records in Individual Olympic events.
After creating history by winning his 10th and 11th Olympic Golds on Wednesday, Michael Phelps just needs one more gold to take over Mark Spitz’s record of seven gold medals and create a record that’s almost impassable, especially when Phelps is just 23 years of age — he has at least one more Olympic to come.
The spectacular 2008 Beijing Olympic fireworks show broadcast to the world in the opening ceremony was prerecorded. It was altered and done digitally in 3D computer graphics, according to several news reports (view the reports here, here and here.)
Lin Miaoke, the lip syncher and Yang Peiyi (inset), the original singer
Meanwhile, the girl in the red dress with the pigtails, called Lin Miaoke, 9, and from a Beijing primary school has become the talk of town after she performed the anthem, a patriotic song called “Hymn to the Motherland”. But, the truth is she just lipped sync. The actual singer was Yang Peiyi, a 7-year-old girl who has buck teeth and is deemed unsuitable to go on air.
Faking it in the opening ceremony will surely bring us to other questions? What about their athletes?
Beijing 2008 Olympic Countdown by Omega, the Official Time Keeper
There are 48 more days to go (47 days in the time of writing), before Beijing 2008 Olympic is kicked off on 08.08.08, that’s August 8, 2008. Omega, the Official Time Keeper of Beijing 2008 has set up a huge monument in the concourse of Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I wonder if this countdown monument will stay until 08.08.08?
Are you looking forward to the Olympic Games in Beijing?
