The movie starts briefly in the year 2003 where Dr. Serena Kogan (Helena Bonham Carter) convinces death row inmate Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) to sign his body over for medical research following his execution by lethal injection. The year after, the Skynet system is activated and sees humans as a threat to its own existence, and eradicates much of humanity in the event known as Judgment Day.

Fast forward to the year 2018, John Connor (Christian Bale) leads an attack by the Resistance on a Skynet base. John discovers human prisoners in the underground but shortly after that the base is destroyed by a nuclear attack and John seems to be the only survivor. Marcus emerges from the wreckage of the base and walks to Los Angeles.

Marcus is saved from a T-600 Terminator by Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and his mute friend, Star (Jadagrace Berry) in the ruins of Los Angeles. The three leave Los Angeles in search of the Resistance upon hearing John Connor on the radio. Though they survive the attack by the machine, Kyle, Star, and several other humans are taken prisoner while two Resistance aircrafts are shot down. Marcus manages to locate the pilot Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood). While they find their way to John’s base, Marcus is injured by a land mine. The Resistance discovers that Marcus is a cyborg with human organs and a mechanical endoskeleton when they try to save him and John orders to destroy the cyborg. However, Blair helps Marcus to escape from the base. During the pursuit of Marcus, John is saved from Skynet hydrobots by Marcus and they form an unwilling alliance where Marcus will help John gets into Skynet base to save Kyle Reese.

In the process of saving Kyle and the other human prisoners from Skynet base, John is critically injured by a T-800 Model 101 Terminator although Marcus manages to get rid of T-800 eventually. Although John manages to destroy Skynet base by rigging several Terminator nuclear power cells to form an explosive, his heart is damaged by a T-800. Marcus offers his heart for transplant as he thinks everyone deserves a second chance and thus sacrificing himself to save John.

Overall, Terminator Salvation is an action-packed film that is brilliant and lacks nothing except maybe it needs a little bit more romantic scenes. Sam Worthington definitely fares better than Christian Bale with his outstanding performance while Anton Yelchin (the Russian who acted in Star Trek) did exceptionally well although his duration on the screen is lesser.

I Love California!

I love California. Not because they have Disneyland or Hollywood or the posh Beverly Hills or Orange County (O.C.). It’s because of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

California made a bold move to curb global warming by passing on Thursday the first bill in the United States to cap man-made greenhouse gas emissions, an action state leaders hope will be copied across the country. California is the first state in the country to do so and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the man.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger frustrated by lack of action from fellow Republican President George W.Bush on reducing heat-trapping gases, teamed up with the state’s Democratic majority on the landmark bill.
