Angelina Jolie made $27 million last year compared to Oprah Winfrey’s $275m but her high profile and appearance in films like “Wanted” and “Kung Fu Panda” catapulted her to the top spot. Oprah Winfrey now drops to second place remains as the top earner.

Madonna, Beyonce and Tiger Woods come next at number 3, 4 and 5 respectively. Also in the top 10 are Bruce Springsteen, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and Kobe Bryant.

Angelina Jolie tops Hollywood Reporter’s list of highest-paid actresses in Hollywood. The star of "Wanted" earned $15 million for the action movie “Wanted” this year and she could make $20 million to star in a possible sequel, it said.

Meanwhile, Oscar winner Julia Roberts, 41, claimed the No. 2 spot after a long absence from the screen, making more than $15 million for "Duplicity," which will only come out in 2009.

Angelina Jolie has splashed out $65,000 on a horsehair mattress so that she can sleep better.

The "Changeling" actress has reportedly been struggling to sleep since her twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born in July and decided to invest in the expensive handmade bedding which took roughly 150 hours to made.

Besides the twins, the couple also have a two-year-old biological daughter, Shiloh. Brangelina also has three adopted children.

The reaction to the photos have been mixed. While some people are applauding the act, some others are crying foul on something which is still considered a taboo.

Whichever it is, I think the Brangelina just knows how to stay in the limelight.

Po and his gang from Kung Fu Panda is back. DreamWorks Animation has announced that Kung Fu Panda 2 is now in production and is expected to hit theaters on June 3, 2011. Both Jack Black and Angelina Jolie will return for the sequel. The sequel will follow Po, the world’s biggest kung fu fan, as he continues his journey as the chosen one who fulfills an ancient prophesy while mastering the art of kung fu.

However, Kung Fu Panda 2 will be in 3D.

People magazine has won the bidding for the North American rights while Hello! magazine gets the international exclusive. It was reported People and Hello! magazine have paid a combined of $14 million for use of the images, with all proceeds going to charity.

The photos are scheduled to appear in Monday’s new issue of People and will debut on People.com on Sunday, 7pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).

Angelina Jolie gave birth to a son and daughter Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France, according to her doctor.

“The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly,” Dr. Michel Sussmann said on Sunday. “Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well.”

Sussmann confirmed the Nice-Matin newspaper report that Jolie gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarean section on Saturday night. Knox weighed 5.03 lbs, and Vivienne 5 lbs.

The twins are the fifth and sixth children for Jolie and partner Brad Pitt, who are already parents to Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh.

Congratulations to them!

The couple sold the pictures of their first natural child, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, for nearly $5 million and donated the money to charity.

The twins are already honored by the Mayor of Nice even before birth.

According to reports, if they are girls one baby will be given the middle name Marcheline, and the other will be called Jane after Pitt’s mother.

August 19, 2008 is the anticipated date for the twins.

Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is an account manager and a total loser who leads a dull and pathetic life. His girlfriend even sleeps with his colleague, Barry (Chris Pratt). His boss, Janice (Lorna Scott) has never stopped annoying him by her persistent nagging and making stapling noise. Most of the times, Gibson needs some sort of medication to calm himself down.

While shopping for groceries in a convenient store, Gibson finds himself face-to-face with Fox (Angelina Jolie) who claims that Gibson’s father is dead and was killed by a stranger named Cross (Thomas Kretschmann). Gibson, facing great dangers, has no choice but to trust Fox after his bid to escape fails. Action-packed car chase pursues after that with both parties, Fox and Gibson and the enemy, Cross manage to escape from the cops.

Fox introduces Gibson to meet Sloan and the rest of the Fraternity Assassins and invites him to join them in order to seek revenge for the murder of his father. Fox mentors Gibson and trains him to become a ruthless assassin by killing targets following death orders issued by The Fates.

In the end, when Gibson sees Cross in the street, he gives him a chase only to end up killing one of the members of the fraternity. The rare bullet shell left by Cross (Cross rarely leaves any evidence) gives Gibson enough clues to pursue him. As a result, the chase continues in Europe which ends up having Cross revealing himself as Mr. X, Gibson’s dad, after he was shot by his own son. While in disbelieve, he verifies the truth by asking Fox, who gives him a strong yes.

In the end, Gibson knows about the truth when Pekwarsky (Terence Stamp), his father’s close friend reveals the truth to him that Sloan tries to save himself from The Fates by creating his own death orders.

Remembering what The Repairman (Marc Warren) has told him, Gibson drives a truck loaded with thousands of rats, all strapped to time bombs and intrudes Sloan’s textile mills. His plan works perfectly as the explosions caused by the exploding rats has messed up the entire mills, making it easy for Gibson to kill everyone in the mills.

Eventually, Gibson finds himself surrounded by the members of the Fraternity, including Fox and Sloan. Gibson tries to convince the members of the Fraternity that Sloan has broken the code by hiding his own death order and that his father has found out, instead, Sloan attempts to finish off Gibson’s father. When The Gunsmith (Common) says he will ignore the rule and tries to fire a shot at Gibson, Fox makes a 360 degrees shot which kill all the members of the Fraternity standing in the circle (except Sloan) ending up killing herself as well.

Gibson gives Sloan a chase but Sloan has managed to escape. In the end, Gibson manages to trick Sloan with the same technique his father once used and killed Sloan.

The movie is quite entertaining with action-packed moments that never fail to impress despite the fact that bullets bending, jumping across buildings and healing oneself with candle wax seem to fake to believe. Angelina Jolie showed she still has the curves while James McAvoy gave an emphatic performance despite his first full-feature film.

The film ends up with Gibson reminding you (yes, you loser) to take control of your own life as he has already done so.

Master Oogway (a tortoise who knows kung fu) summons Shifu only to tell him his prophecy of Tai Lung (Ian McShane) will escape to become a treat to the civilians, therefore, Oogway must select a new Dragon Warrior to defend the town. The whole village gathers to find out which of the Furious Five will be the Dragon Warrior only to see Po accidentally being selected as the chosen one.

After learning the prophecy of Tai Lung’s escaping, Shifu sends Zeng (Dan Fogler), the messenger goose to send a message to Commander Vachir (Michael Clarke Duncan), a Javan Rhinoceros to beef up the security by as much as twice but Vachir arrogantly says no one can escape his prison, with 1,000 soldiers guarding 1 prisoner. Unfortunately, Zeng carelessly drops a feather which enables Tai Lung to escape and easily trashes all of Vachir’s soldiers who try to stop him.

When Shifu learns from Zeng that Tai Lung has escaped, Shifu consults Oogway only to have Oogway strongly tells Shifu to believe Po is the chosen one and slowly nurture him like the peach tree. Oogway then passes away like dust in the air. While Po is upset by his clumsiness and his failure in his earlier training, it is Shifu who convinces Po to stay when Po decides to leave. Shifu discovers that Po is able to climb up to the highest kitchen cabinet just to steal some cookies and therefore uses food as a whole new way of training Po. When Po is finally equipped with the kung fu to fight Tai Lung, Shifu brings down the dragon scroll to Po only for both of them to realize the scroll is totally empty.

Knowing that Tai Lung is on his way, Shifu asks his students including Po to help the villagers to evacuate the place, believing he will be able to at least, momentarily holds off Tai Lung. Po meets his father, Mr. Ping (James Hong) who finally reveals to Po his secret ingredient’s secret — nothing. Po finally understand the secret behind the blank scroll, which is nothing but to believe in oneself. He boldly goes back to the palace in order to face Tai Lung. The fight between both of them doesn’t last very long, but like the entire show, is nevertheless hilarious. Po, somehow, manages to defeat Tai Lung and earns the respect of the Furious Five as well as Shifu.

Overall, this is one of the best animated movie and definitely the best so far this year. Great voice acting by Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman, beautiful landscapes and background arts, what’s more, the dumplings and bowl of noodles look extremely real! Worth watching with the entire family.

Who can denies the fact that Angelina Jolie’s the second best thing in the world after coffee?

The cast members of Beowulf were filmed on a motion capture stage and were later on altered on screen using computer-generated imagery, but their animated counterparts bear much resemblance to themselves.

With exceptional visual and sound effects, Beowulf, the movie primarily focuses on Beowulf (Ray Winstone) fighting scenes with Grendell (Crispin Hellion Glover) and later on, with a dragon. Other than that, you should just sit back and relax while enjoying the movie in awe.

The movie begins with King Hrothgar (Anthony Hopkins) merrily celebrating his win in a war with his men in a Danish mead hall called Heorot. Their drinking and singing has strongly annoyed Grendel who lives in a cavern. Without any warning, Grendel has launched an attack, killing most men in Heorot except a few – Hrothgar, Wealthow (Robin Wright Penn) and Unferth (John Malkovich).

Receiving the news about the monster, Grendel, Beowulf and his Geat men who hail from Geatland (Sweden) has striven through dangerous seas to reach Denmark in order to help Hrothgar to kill the monster. When Beowulf arrives, most of Hrothgar’s people do not believe his words – "I am here to kill your monster" (sound hilarious). Unferth, Hrothgar’s faithful servant does not believe Beowulf’s words, in fact, he even insults Beowulf with the stories he has heard of. Only King Hrothgar knows of Beowulf’s real strength and boldness. He knows Beowulf come to the rescue because Hrothgar has once saved Beowulf’s father.

Beowulf has unmatched strength

Beowulf and his men waste no time as they prepare for the arrival of Grendel in the mead hall, Heorot. Beowulf, amusingly but obscenely takes off his armor and feigns sleep while awaiting Grendel, saying that Grendel is also weaponless and does not wear any armor. So, Beowulf’s Geat men sings and continue to sing until Grendel comes knocking. However, unlike the previous attack, Grendel does not know what’s awaiting him. The Geat men has locked the door with a colossal piece of wood, so when Grendel knocks open the door, he hurts his hand in the process. Beowulf’s men even mock Grendel when he has had a hard time opening the door, let alone, fight them. The fight between Beowulf and Grendel is short. Though Beowulf has a few men killed in the process, he has no problem in his slaughter of Grendel. Grendel’s size shrinks to human size and even has his arm pulled out from his body by Beowulf. With an arm left, Grendel escapes back to where he comes from.

When everyone thinks Beowulf has killed Grendel, they again prepare to celebrate, thinking that he has lifted the curse.

Meanwhile, Grendel dies in the cave as his entire body shrinks even further. This angers Grendel’s mother (Old English: Grendles modor, portrayed by Angeline Jolie) who discreetly visits Heorot and kills Beowulf’s remaining men except Wiglaf who was preparing the ship on the previous night.

Beowulf wakes up to see all his men dead (except Wiglaf), hanging on the ceiling of Heorot, he wastes no time in questioning Hrothgar. Hrothgar, in return tells Beowulf that it was not Grendel who has attacked again but it was his mother. This creates an amusing scene with Beowulf asking whether he needs to kill Grendel’s father, mother and cousins, and maybe the entire family!

Beowulf and Wiglaf then goes to the cave where Grendel comes from to encounter Grendel’s mother. Beowulf enters the cave alone to face Grendel’s mother while Wiglaf has decided to wait outside. Beowulf boldly yells for the appearance of Grendel’s mother but to his disbelieve, a beautiful woman comes out of the water. Instead of killing Grendel’s mother, Beowulf is charmed by the seductive demon who promises him wealth and kingdom if he helps her to bear a child.

Beowulf goes back to the town with Grendel’s head while claiming he has slaughtered Grendel’s mother as well. Hrothgar, who has created Grendel, knows what exactly has happened and announced Beowulf as his successor before he jumps to death from a very high tower.

Many years has passed since Beowulf has become the new king and nothing has happened all these years until one day, where an old treasure which is given to Grendel’s mother got stolen by Cain. This rudely awakens Grendel’s mother and the dragon, which is believed to be Beowulf’s own son. The dragon’s attack is almost unstoppable – even though Beowulf has managed to kill the dragon in the end with his bare hand and losing an arm for it, he eventually dies after falling to death together with the dragon.

Beowulf’s body is later on placed on a boat together with tonnes of gold and is burnt and it sails away.

Wiglaf who takes over the throne from Beowulf as the king later on sees Grendel’s mother in the sea, partially nude but yet he becomes the latest victim in a century old tradition of deceit and destruction that has sentenced many kings and their kingdoms to misery and death.

The film deviates significantly from the original poem in many areas including the relationship between Beowulf and Wealtheow, Beowulf and Grendel’s mother, and the lengthy time span before Beowulf fights the dragon. Also, according to the original poem, Beowulf is buried in a barrow and not as how the film has mentioned.

Overall, the movie has very impressive visual and sound effects but lacks a strong screenplay.
