Resident Evil: Retribution is the fifth film in the Resident Evil series with the main protagonist Alice (Milla Jovovich) returns for the umpteen times as she continues to battle against The Umbrella Corporation.
SPOILER WARNING: Plot and/or ending details follow.
Milla Jovovich in "Resident Evil: Retribution"
Alice (Milla Jovovich) is captured by the Umbrella Corporation led by Alice’s former ally Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory) when she thought it was all over. She is then brought into Umbrella’s underwater base for questioning.
Although Resident Evil: Retribution falls short in terms of plots (like all the other video games film), the film finally reveals the bigger and ultimate plan that the Umbrella Corporation has on its sleeve.
One fresh addition to the film franchise is the introduction of Ada Wong (Li Bingbing) as she is one of the most popular female characters as well as one of the most attractive female characters in video games. While Li Bingbing’s Ada Wong was quite frozen at times, she has somewhat the sex appeal which certainly helps to liven up the film.
Otherwise, the film seems to keep repeating every other elements, one would start to ask "will it ever end?" — not really. Director Paul W.S. Anderson has mentioned there will be a sixth and final Resident Evil film and that’ll depend on how well Resident Evil: Retribution fares. I would say, just bring it on and close the curtain, shall we?
