British actor Henry Cavill (Stardust, The Tudors, upcoming Immortals) is chosen by Warner Bros and director Zack Snyder as the new 2012′s Superman movie.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen,” the movie’s director, Zack Snyder, says of Cavill.

Green Lantern (2011) Trailer

Green Lantern is an action sci-fi film about a test pilot is who granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe. Directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, The Legend of Zorro), Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard. The film opens on June 17, 2011.

The 83rd Annual Academy Award nominations was announced on Tuesday.

The fight for Best Picture will be a close one with “Black Swan,” ”The Fighter,” ”Inception,” ”The Kids Are All Right,” ”The King’s Speech,” ”127 Hours,” ”The Social Network,” ”Toy Story 3,” ”True Grit,” and ”Winter’s Bone” in the list.

While for Best Actor, Javier Bardem, “Biutiful”; Jeff Bridges, “True Grit”; Jesse Eisenberg, “The Social Network”; Colin Firth, “The King’s Speech”; James Franco, “127 Hours” are the nominees.

Annette Bening, “The Kids Are All Right”; Nicole Kidman, “Rabbit Hole”; Jennifer Lawrence, “Winter’s Bone”; Natalie Portman, “Black Swan”; Michelle Williams, “Blue Valentine” meanwhile are nominated for Best Actress.
