Sun-Maid Girl Makeover Causes Dispute

Sun-Maid, the world’s largest producer and processor of raisins has changed its Sun-Maid raisin girl into somewhat a more curvy, younger modern woman, leading some to say that the newly made-over raisin girl looks like a Barbie Doll in Amish attire.

The image of the Sun-Maid girl, which is originally discovered in 1915 when Lorraine Collett Petersen who was drying her black hair curls in the sunny backyard of her parents’ home in Fresno, California when she was asked to pose for a watercolor painting holding a basket of grapes while wearing a sunbonnet.

The new Sun-Maid girl also featured in television advertisements.
