6-Year-Old Girl Elena Hid Love Notes for Her Parents to Find After Her Death

Elena Desserich was diagnosed with brain cancer just before her sixth birthday. She was told she has 135 days to live, but she lived 255 days, passing away in 2007.

Okay, get ready a hanky, prepare to cry.

Elena began writing and hiding hundreds of little love notes around the house for her parents to find after she was gone. After her death, Elena’s parents, Brooke and Keith Desserich, found hundred of notes from Elena hidden around the house — in between CD cases, between bookshelves, in dresser drawers, in backpacks.

Elena’s parents have now published these notes in a book called Notes Left Behind to fund a non-profit organization The Cure Starts Now dedicated to fighting pediatric brain cancer.

Wow that is something very thoughtful for someone so young. It reminds me of this cheesy movie I saw a little while back where the husband is dying so he sets up this whole scavenger hunt goose chase to help the widowed wife get over it.

This is incredibly sad and Im sure the parents were very touched yet saddened by the gesture. Brain cancer can be a very difficult variant to treat but I sure hope the doctors did everything they could to ease the young girl’s suffering.
