"The Incredible Hulk" debuted as the top weekend movie with $55.4 million across North America, smashing M. Night Shyamalan’s "The Happening" and "Kung Fu Panda".
After Marvel Studio’s previous box office success with "Iron Man", audiences especially the young viewers were eager to see what Edward Norton would do with his green beast of a character.
"The Incredible Hulk" has now become the second film produced by the company to open at No. 1.
