Malaysian-born actor Goum Ian Iskandar is only 9-year-old but he beat the odds of Simon Yam (Election 2: Harmony Is Virtue), Jay Chou (Curse Of The Golden Flower), Nick Cheung (Election 2: Harmony Is Virtue) and and Liu Ye (Curse Of The Golden Flower) and won the best supporting actor award at the 26th Hong Kong Film Awards for the movie “After This Our Exile”, also starring Aaron Kwok and Charlie Yeung. Fellow Malaysian artist, Lee Sin Je was nomiated for Best Actress for the movie “Re-Cycle” but lost out to Gong Li (Curse Of The Golden Flower).

Goum Ian Iskandar in After This Our Exile
After This Our Exile also won Best Film beating the likes of Curse of the Golden Flower, Fearless, Election 2: Harmony Is Virtue and Exiled (yes, another movie with almost the same name). The Chinese title of After This Our Exile means “Father and Son”, where Goum Ian Iskandar plays Lok-Yun, son to Shing (Aaron Kwok) while Charlie Young plays Lin, Shing’s wife who later on left him. Directed by Patrick Tam, who won Best Director award.
Will Goum Ian Iskandar gain fame after this and fades from the movie scene like how Macaulay Culkin and Haley Joel Osment had it when they were young? Or will he prove them otherwise?
