Every year, Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar. This year, it falls on October 6, 2006. The traditional food of this festival is the moon cake. Moon cake, which used to have limited varities, now have hundred of varities to choose from.
Starbucks Malaysia, in particular has comeout with mooncakes in two flavors - tiramisu and green tea chocolate. Okay, stop drooling. Get yours from your nearest Starbucks in Malaysia and selected countries only. The price is MYR 50 for a box of four.

Other companies like Kam Lun Tai, Oversea Restaurant and The Baker’s Cottage have come out with dozen of flavors from Ginseng Mooncake to Citrus Barley.
Oh yeah, Häagen-Dazs, as usual, has come out with ice-cream mooncake. Oh boy. The price is MYR 68 for a box of four.

Well, though I don’t really fancy mooncakes, Häagen-Dazs and Starbucks have pretty good and tempting ones. I have had Häagen-Dazs before and they are so good, they sell like hot cakes. Certain flavors are very quickly sold out in most branches. So get ‘em before they’re all gone!

drooool…. oh my god… i think it has been three yrs since the last time i had one! i have asked my bf to buy me one whole box from singapore when he comes back next week. i miss those mooncakes in malaysia. although i can get mooncake here in perth, but not very nice.
@sophia: buy from Singapore? I believe Malaysia has better ones. this year, not only the big guns are producing the mooncakes, bakeries are also competing. my friend who’s studying in Singapore told me Tai Thong has a flavor called Strawberry Mooncake which is always sold-out. as I’m not a fan of mooncake (except ice-cream mooncake), I don’t bother much.
